Little Dan can’t be much older than six but he is sure to understand one thing: people clap and cheer for you when you field the ball cleanly. And if something makes people clap and cheer, then it’s a good thing.
This concept has totally gone over the heads of Yuniesky Betancourt, Adrian Beltre and Jose Lopez. All three committed an error and the result was a pair of unearned runs during Seattle’s 5-1 loss to the Yankees.
Erik Bedard notched six strike outs and gave up one earned run over seven innings only to be handed a loss for his efforts.
Perhaps he could’ve benefited from the fielding prowess of little Dan. I mean, check out his form on that grounder in the hole. And judging by the picture of him on his follow through, little Dan can hit the ball as well, something the Mariner hitters have had trouble doing as of late.
Seattle should go back to basics and channel their inner Dan. At the very least the team would be fielding the ball better.
