The American dollar is currently worth just 98 cents in Canada, using a four percent cash rate. You may or may not know what that means (I sure don’t) but all you need to understand is that the American dollar is worth less across the border.
Thankfully, for the Tacoma Rainers Major League affiliate, the same can’t necessarily be said about American baseball teams.
The Major League affiliate won another nail biter, this time 2-1, over the Blue Jays. Not only is it a win, but it is two wins out of three games, which translate into a series win! Look out, Angels, that 16.5-game lead is going to evaporate before you know it.
Felix Hernandez’s performance was fit for a king. He pitched eight innings, struck out eight, walked one and gave up just one earned run. What makes the performance more impressive is that Hernandez had to match his opponent pitch-for-pitch. Hernandez’s teammates were too busy making Toronto’s Shaun Marcum (7 IP, 9 SO, 7 H, 1 ER) look like Cy Young.
But leave it to Ichiro Suzuki to take the initiative by putting his team in position to win. After earning a lead off walk in the bottom of the ninth, Suzuki stole second base and eventually scored on a two-out single by Raul Ibanez. It was the lone offensive highlight of the evening for Tacoma’s Major League affiliate, but when that highlight is a game-winning single then I guess that’s not so bad.
