Yaaaaawn … wait, there’s a game?

Forget getting up on the wrong side of the bed every morning he starts. The Mariners’ Miguel Bautista isn’t even getting out of the bed. At least it felt that way when Bautista gave up three runs in the first inning en route to a 6-4 loss to another pathetic baseball team, the Padres.

For the third consecutive start Bautista couldn’t get out of the first inning without giving up at least two runs, throwing at least 25 pitches and giving fans an acute pain in their arse.

Considering Seattle has the offensive firepower of your local nursing home softball team, being three runs in the hole before taking your first cuts is pretty depressing.

Raul Ibanez continues to be the team’s best player by going 2-for-3 and scoring two runs. And Kenji Johjima seems to be turning it around at the plate after going 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the second inning.

As bad as the offense has been all year, they should be given some credit for pulling within one twice during the game. Even after falling back 4-0 after two innings, the Mariners fought back and scored three in the bottom of the second. Then after the Padres scored another run in the third inning, Seattle made it back up to make the game 5-4.

Unfortunately, the Mariners were done fighting for the evening and dropped their eighth game in ten tries.

But it could be worse. At least they haven’t batted out of order this season.
